Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways.

BTEC Level 3 Civil Engineering has been designed as a two year linear course equivalent to three A levels. This course is suitable for learners who want to progress to higher education courses in civil engineering areas before entering employment.

There is a diverse range of career pathways, with established professional entry and development routes in civil engineering, building services engineering, design/architecture and construction supervision/management.

Course Outline

  • 1080 GLH (1450 TQT) Equivalent in size to three A Levels
  • 15 units of which 8 are mandatory and 3 are external
