Hospitality & Tourism Takeover Day was held at the Hilton Metropole in February. Our students were invited to take part in interactive activities, all linked to careers in the industry.

Speaking about their future, a Year 9 student said: “I think the Hilton event confirmed to me that I wanted to do something hospitality related in the future. The staff were very kind and took a lot of pride in their workplace.”

The students took part in a:

• Hotel tour
• Cupcake decorating challenge
• Hospitality quiz
• Mocktail making masterclass
• Towel origami
• Budgeting workshop.

They were also treated to a buffet style lunch that they enjoyed thoroughly. The whole day gave them an incredible insight into the skills and expertise needed to carve out a future career.

Discussing the impact the event had on them, one student stated: “This amazing and inspiring trip gave a fun, but yet educational insight into the hospitality field. The experience has given me a new-found passion for hospitality work, allowing me to feel secure about my future pathways. Thank you to everyone at the Hilton Metropole!”
