Royal Greenwich Trust School Celebrates Record Breaking Results

Our Year 13 students are celebrating outstanding results, with a record breaking number achieving three Distinctions or better across all subjects. This has seen 95% of them take up their first choice university place.

RGTS Sixth Form specialises in Engineering, Construction & Civil Engineering and Business & Finance, with students travelling across London to take up highly sought after places.

Rhyen, who obtained Distinction* (the highest possible grade and equivalent to three A*s at A level) in Engineering, spoke about the benefits of studying in a specialist sixth form: “The practical part of the course was amazing because we had access to state-of-the-art machines.” He graduates RGTS to take up a place at UCL studying Mechanical Engineering.

Rhyen, along with fellow high achiever Manar, will be attending the Achieving Greatness in Greenwich Awards this September thanks to their excellent results.

The awards ceremony, hosted by Councillors Anthony Okereke and Matt Morrow, is to celebrate the educational excellence taking place across the Royal London Borough of Greenwich.

Arwa, who achieved D*D*D in Business & Finance offered her advice to future students: “Make sure you take all the opportunities you are given. I have been able to take part in some wonderful experiences thanks to the sixth form.” Arwa will be joining Rhyen at UCL and studying Global Humanitarianism.

These results follow a fantastic year for the whole school, in which Ofsted rated us Good across all categories. This included the sixth form, with inspectors observing that “students demonstrate consistently positive behaviour and attitudes towards their learning” and “leaders have ensured that ambitious curriculum thinking is in place for all subject areas.”

Speaking about the many successes, our incredible Headteacher Caroline Toye stated: “Results day is always a wonderful chance to celebrate the achievements of our incredible students.”

“The passion with which they speak about their subject, teachers and experiences is indicative of the excellent, rounded education that they receive at RGTS Sixth Form.”

“We purposefully offer a smaller range of subjects than most sixth forms because we want our students to learn from specialist teachers. It is fantastic to see the results across these subjects reflect this.”

“I know for certain that these graduates will go on to achieve wonderful things. I am excited to see what the future holds for all of them, and I look forward to welcoming them back to Royal Greenwich Trust School to share their successes with our future students.”

“None this could be achieved without the expertise and dedication of our teaching and support staff and these outcomes echo the essence of our learning community which is centred on positive and purposeful relationships”.
